Read: “A Short History of Our Church”
View: A History of Our Ministers
UMW Readers: Remember the reading year ends on July 31st. If you still want to read from one of the categories that you are missing, this is your chance.
From the Church Library:
Peace for the Journey by Elaine Olsen is now in the library. For you who have not had the blessing of knowing Elaine, she is the wife of Billy Olsen, an associate pastor here several years ago. In her introduction she writes these notes about this book…..
“The reflections contained within these pages are designed to stand alone and don’t need to be read in sequential order. If your life has taken a detour to the desert, choose a reflection located in the section ‘peace in the desert.’ If a mirror is calling for your introspection, take a peek in the section ‘peace in the mirror.’ This book is meant to be a resource for you as you go about your ordinary life with your extraordinary Jesus.
If you desire to take your pondering a step beyond the daily reading, ‘a further pause’ is offered after each concluding prayer to deepen and strengthen your personal application of the principles laid out in each reflection. You may want to consider using a journal or notebook to chronicle your thoughts, as space for answers is limited.
Finally, the book lends itself to times of personal study but also can serve as a practical resource for small groups desiring to walk corporately in and with the peace of Jesus Christ.
Either way, the pleasure of his company awaits you.”
For Youth:
A new book in the Library, SOMETHING TO SING ABOUT by C.C. Payne is a story about ten-year-old Jamie J. Jamie Jo has a fear of bees that keeps her inside most of the time until a series of events, beginning when her mother is excluded from the church choir, brings about many changes. Theses changes include new friendships and a greater trust in God.
